Anyone with increased anxiety and stress
Man has been drawn to horses for centuries. They have been our partners in every aspect of life, from work to pleasure. Horses have a unique ability to sense our thoughts and emotions rather than our actions. They react to our subtlest changes in body language and can even read our heart rhythms. Horses are more attuned to how we feel and act rather than what we say. They listen to our emotions.
Therefore, we cannot negotiate with or mislead a horse. When we are anxious, depressed, worried, angry, content, or peaceful – they react in the moment. Horses respond to a person’s behavior and emotions without bias to physical appearance or pre-conceived knowledge of what that person is going through. A horse will often mirror a person’s emotions and give immediate feedback. This often helps people to ‘feel heard.’ They can also use this feedback to better understand how to feel more in control of the world around them. We want our participants to learn how to respond rather than react.
Students will interact with the horses in their own environment around the farm. These non-riding activities allow true bonding between horses and humans. We will immerse ourselves into the horses’ world and learn from the herd.
We offer Equine Assisted Mental Wellness; this experiential learning goes beyond traditional ‘talk therapy.’ It gives support to traditional clinical counseling. It allows the Horse to do the talking or perhaps for the Horse to Whisper to Us.
